Large-format porcelain slabs for kitchen countertops, cladding and outdoor kitchens, cut and finished in Turkey.
Large-format porcelain slabs are fired ceramic panels with very low water absorption, high resistance to heat and UV light, and marble, stone or concrete designs. Turkey has one of the world's largest ceramic industries, and countertop fabrication in porcelain calls for specific technical knowledge.
Technical considerations
- Most porcelain has a printed surface; mitred edges hide the body colour at exposed edges.
- Sink and hob cut-outs need radiused internal corners and careful feed rates to avoid cracking.
- Thin slabs (typically 12 mm) may need reinforcement strips around openings and on overhangs.
- Design direction is planned across joints and waterfall ends before cutting.
- UV and frost resistance make porcelain suitable for outdoor kitchens.

Common questions about porcelain slabs
- What thickness is used for porcelain countertops?
- 12 mm is the most common thickness for porcelain countertops, with 20 mm also available from some manufacturers. Edges are often mitred to create a thicker look and hide the body colour.
- Is porcelain harder to fabricate than stone?
- Porcelain is dense and brittle, so cut-outs, mitres and edges need the right tooling, radiused corners and controlled cutting speeds. Fabrication experience with porcelain matters as much as the slab itself.
- Is porcelain suitable for outdoor kitchens?
- Yes. Porcelain slabs have very low water absorption and are UV and frost resistant, which makes them a common choice for outdoor kitchens and exterior cladding.
